Hitting the road

Turns out we didn’t actually get out of Sydney until 3pm! A ute to return in the morning, the hotel to pack up and two cars to pack, then a visit to the hospital, just to see/farewell/wish a merry Christmas to many of our long term family doctors, though we’re seeing a lot of them ...

Crazy times…

Starting today we’re moving out… out of our Blacktown house, and hopefully out of Sydney all together. It’s all a little weird, with too many unrelated things all hitting us at once, and we just had to make a decision. For now though, all our stuff goes into storage, and we head up to Coonabarabran ...

The end of Movember–with picture!

The end of Movember--with picture!
Had to post my final Movember look… it’s an eerily effective moustache I suppose, and I did raise over $100, which I’m proud of. And I did get two weeks of free burgers from Grill’d as well, which is nice 🙂 So here’s the final Movember do: I’m always extra rough and ready in these ...

Finding writing time

I continue to be frustrated (or is that frustrate myself?) by not creating the time to write at home, and in the last couple of months, the writing on the train time that served me so well for nearly the last year now doesn’t serve me too well at all. There’s not much to say ...

A wee bit of progress for Will

Will has a lot of medical problems, as anyone that knows us is aware. Problems in his kidney and bladder, and it’s followed through to a number of other developmental areas. It’s tough, but we cope. On Monday, he had another operation, but just a small one this time. He has what’s called a visacostomy ...

Baby news and other pursuits

Lachlan smiled at me tonight… just now, was holding him five minutes ago. That felt good 🙂 I start off by prefacing it with the whole “maybe it’s gas” thing that Sallie told me about, but you really don’t care… my boy was smiling at me and that’s enough. He’s been doing pretty well, just ...

Crucial writing times

I’m *this* close to finishing my 2nd novel in a 10 month span. Usually I don’t write a lot about specific writing progress here, because like all blogging novelists, known or unknown, you realise quickly it’s just not that interesting. But I’ve almost kind of hit a snag. On the current project, I seem to ...

Lachlan Turner born today 1

Lachlan Turner born today
My third son was born today… Lachlan Turner (middle names not decided yet) was born at 12.18pm on June 24, which just happens to also be my wedding anniversary 🙂 Yes, the most amazing gift ever, I know, but now we get to share it every year with him as well, and I know who ...

Tomorrow is the big day

Actually in more ways than one… It’s Sallie and I’s third wedding anniversary. Which is big, and good… but also to be mostly ignored. Because it will be our third son’s birthday… Sallie is off to hospital in the morning to have our child delivered, and I will be there of course. It’s all been ...
