The big duck!

Powerhouse Museum Jan 2013, a photo by StephenATurner on Flickr. I must admit I don’t know the background to this thing, but we managed to see it before it’s removed next week. Funny how every pic of it looks grey while the duck retains its bright yellow though! Share this:TwitterFacebookEmailLike this:Like Loading...

Google Apps Summit Day 2

Me and some of the Yammer/DEC folks today Another excellent day at Burwood for the Google Apps summit. Today I was extremely glad to be at MLC, with their luxurious airconditioning… … Because outside it reached 44.7 degrees Celsius! It was officially the hottest day on record for Sydney. Fortunately, it was not a disaster for ...

Day 1 Google Apps summit

Day 1 Google Apps summit
Headed out bright and very early to the Google Apps summit being held at MLC school in Burwood. Could only gawk at how modern and wealthy the school grounds were, but that wasn’t the point of the day. The point was that this was a big event being held in aid of the whole suite ...

Off to Sydney for many reasons

Off to Sydney again today, for two different reasons. I’m at the Google Apps Summit at MLC in Burwood tomorrow and Friday, then taking Will to more Doctors appointments on Monday. In between we’re going to the Wallace & Gromit invention show at the Powerhouse Museum on Saturday… And whatever else we can manage 🙂 ...

Getting preoccupied with the wrong things

Getting preoccupied with the wrong things
I have a post on iPad music apps I keep wanting to finish, not to mention that TAFE assignment, but right now all I can think about is the fire situation at home. Fires have been around Coonabarabran since Sunday, and while things should be okay for the town (where I am) it’s far from ...

The mechanics of social news

You see a lot now about the role that the Internet and social media play in news gathering, Everyone has a smartphone so everyone can be a news gatherer. I’ve thought and written about it myself before as well. Then over the weekend — even in just a little way — I got to see ...

Coonabarabran Bushfires 2013

Coonabarabran Bushfires 2013, a set on Flickr. A set of all the photos I took from yesterday’s bushfires near Coonabarabran. The crisis, while hopefully lessened today, is definitely not over. Share this:TwitterFacebookEmailLike this:Like Loading...

Quite an odd day in Coonabarabran

Shifting northwest, a photo by StephenATurner on Flickr. Strange day here… this is the smoke visible from town at about 6.30pm. It shifted across the view from west to northwest. We seem to be safe here now, but people further north may have a very rough night 🙁 Share this:TwitterFacebookEmailLike this:Like Loading...
