Another late one tonight, but a good one. Went into town to the Big Top at Luna Park for the first time, to see DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist do their 45s only “Hard Sell” DJ show. I bought tickets only a couple of days ago, even though my brother bought them about three months ago.
Interesting venue … it was another terrible night weather-wise, so Luna Park was virtually deserted. There’s a bit of a lack of cafes in Milson’s Point, but we worked it out.
Supporting was Danielsan from Koolism and Dexta from the Avalanches. Solid shows, but I missed much of Dexta as I was lining up for beer — the major downside of drinking now 🙂
DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist appear, each controlling four turntables and two mixes. Hell of a show, with a big light/video display as well as their music. Interesting and eclectic choices, with some of the highlights being the Gilligan’s Island theme set to the music from Stairway to Heaven. And the finale, which featured both of them wearing mini-turntables and scratching out to Metallica’s One was just mad.
Great show — this is something I’d never have seen myself getting into a few years ago, but I’m glad to be into it now. Even bought a t-shirt after the show, which I haven’t been able to do for years.
