Yes, again. Been off the novel for a short while, and I won’t get mopey about it (who the hell needs that?) But I know I need to get back on the book — I felt stalled briefly but I know it’s there.
I saw a Guardian story on Twitter recently:
James Rhodes: ‘Find what you love and let it kill you’
It perfectly encapsulates everything that is insane and everything that makes sense about an artistic life. There’s a certain extremity to his point of view, but still, it’s one that makes perfect sense. When you know it’s the only thing you can do, you just have to do it, no matter what. You won’t regret not earning a bit more money, or riding some corporate ladder, but you’ll know what really drives you, more so if you don’t do it.
I’m really close now. The effort is needed, but the breakthrough is coming.
