San Francisco May Charge for Grocery Bags

As always, these things always sound more complicated in America…

Some shops in Australia already do this, and no one really minds. If you go to Aldi they charge for bags, but they’re really good ones. And since we possibly just give a shit more, there’s been an enormous drive to recycle bags, or buy $1 canvas-style bags, which carry a lot more and are infinitely more reusable.

Wouldn’t worry me at all (or most of Australia I suspect), if we were charged for plastic bags everywhere. It would just make me remember to bring my other bags more often 🙂

But I do enjoy this part: “While the goal is reducing plastic bag pollution, paper was added so as not to discriminate…”
